When walking down the streets of Ottawa you are almost as likely to hear French as you are English. Being the National Capital of a country with a sizeable French population the City of Ottawa is an officially bilingual city, so the two languages co-exist here peacefully (for the most part).
We’ve been in Canada for just over a week and it feels like we’ve been living in a bit of a Canadian cliché. We haven’t even been doing it on purpose, it’s just kind of happened.
After four years of living in England there remains one element of English life and culture that I still find somewhat baffling – tea.
