The six of us stood still as statues, hands outstretched with palms to the sky in the silence of the forest. No, we weren’t performing some strange Canadian ritual to the snow gods, we were feeding the birds – the chickadees to be precise.
Ottawa boasts a number walking trails, many well within the city limits, that are inhabited by bold little tweeters that are more than happy to socialize with their bipedal brothers and sisters if there are tasty seeds on offer. Our food of choice was black sunflower seeds and the buffet we provided didn’t seem to disappoint!
